Danny Woodburn accepted the Norman Lear-Geri Jewell Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 Media Access Awards.

Woodburn has appeared in over 90 movies over the course of his career, including Death to Smoochy, Mirror, Mirror, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

While hosting the 2016 event, Woodburn took a moment to remind the audience of ongoing activism–work that is just as important today as it was in 2016.

Referencing the #OscarsSoWhite push for diversity, he urged the community of people with disabilities in Hollywood to keep speaking up:

We’re talking about diversity every day in every news outlet, and there was never any mention of people with disabilities. It only came from us … it didn’t come from the press.
